Dr. Holden, would NotebookLM be useful in analyzing test data such as PSA and MRI results in terms of recommending whether to for instance continue active surveillance, retest for PSA and/or MRI or to seek a biopsy? Thanks.....Tom

Hi Tom. I guarantee you that those types of AI programs will be available to consumers in the future, to the chagrin of their doctors. However, NotebookLM wouldn't be good for that. NotebookLM is mainly used to collect and parse data to understand the information better. I don't know of any commercially available AI programs the average consumer can access without a healthcare provider that can accurately analyze data like that. "Accurately" is the keyword.

That said, any AI program can tell you that a Gleason 8 (for example) is not an option for AS. AI is best for helping men better understand prostate cancer and coming up with questions for you to ask your doctor. However, prostate cancer patients should always rely on their healthcare provider for "next steps" in their care.

Healthcare providers order tests that assist in decision-making about AS, such as Artera AI (which determines tumor aggressiveness by looking at pathology slides) and Decipher Prostate (a gene assay of prostate tissue that assesses tumor aggressiveness).

I think you'll find helpful information at https://www.prostatecancersecrets.com/p/active-surveillance-of-prostate-cancer and https://www.prostatecancersecrets.com/p/prostate-cancer-screening-part-2
