Makes me thing about Alan Turing, who (of course) broke the enigma code used by the Nazis. Thank you for the update.

He was one of the most brilliant mathematicians and he cracked the enigma code. Despite his heroic accomplishment, he was later prosecuted by the British for being gay and sentenced to chemical castration, also known in modern day terms as androgen deprivation - the treatment for advanced prostate cancer. How ironic!
